The Chandlers are an amazing family - two of the nicest people I know and when they had their daughter I was jumping for joy that they picked me to take their photos. After Covid I've been doing more in-home sessions.....their's was dynamite. A long adoption journey, a stay int he NICU, during COVID, and finally at home with her mom and dad. Joyous!
They're having a baby!
It's winter time to we went with some water and sunset to punch up the backdrop since there's bare branches everywhere. Beautiful....they came out just beautiful! They're naturals and so cute together. I had a blast.. Baby's coming in March! I was in the mood for something fun and whimsical. I showed some inspiration pictures to my friend and asked if she'd want to do this with our kids. Of course! And here's what we got. -Black backdrop -One light -White fabric wrapped as a one-shoulder top -Face glitter -Lots of coaching behind the camera "hold your hand out and blow!" And last but not least....here's a before and after. Simple glittery magic in Photoshop.
I've been taking this little girls photos since she was 6 months old. It's a real honor to be chosen time and time again to be the one to document a child's milestones. Babies grow. Kids grow. You don't get that time back. And you picked me to take the pictures! Thank you!
We went to Mueller and worked three different little spots in less than an hour. Tons of variety and I love them all. I got to sneak in a few Christmas newborns this season and I loved it! Baby girl Ella was a dream baby and allowed us to do every look and color we wanted. And her big brother Brennen is so handsome! Loved having him join the party.
I look forward to this day every year....babies and kiddos in their Christmas PJs, dresses, outfits, sparkly trees, glittering lanterns, adorable props, and so many cookies!
This was SO fun. I actually haven't done a whole lot of maternity....just haven't been asked for it. So when we met at the boardwalk on a beautiful fall evening I had with me a list of poses and we tried them all! I love all the little variations. Thank you Rachel and Ryan for a wonderful evening. I had fun shooting, posing, editing, and best of all I look forward to doing more of these!
If you missed it.....a few years ago I posted a tutorial on something you will never need to learn how to do....make candle wax milk for Christmas Minis! I knew I wanted to do Cookies & Milk for Santa but was plagued with the problem of babies, toddlers, and kids knocking over real milk. My brother to the rescue - his idea, and he deserves credit. Candle Wax. After a few years of use they got a little beat up so here we go again, making a few fresh bottles and while I'm at it let's document the process. You're welcome. Enjoy this how-to I am positive you will never use. Oh! And I've added a hot chocolate scene this year.....scroll on to see some quite simple copy and paste photoshop magic. Quite simple really. Acquire the goods. Break apart candles, melt over double boiler, pour, and let set. ![]() And VOILA! Kids can pick 'em up, move 'em, knock 'em over and we don't have to worry about a thing! Next! I added a cute Hot Cocoa scene to my minis this year. I wanted it to look outdoorsy and I had a cute little puffy vest for Ben, but it was "itchy" and after he cried and complained we found the softest sweater we could to get on with the promo pics. I considered making candle wax hot chocolate, because, its genius! But with my oversized mugs I thought candle wax would be too heavy, and realizing how quickly I could photoshop this, we're just going to go with that for minis. One: Take Photo, load into Photoshop Two: Make real hot chocolate, and take a picture of it. Load into Photoshop. Select and move, drop onto photo of child your'e working on Transform until it looks just right. VOILA! Like Magic. And the steam? Just another Photoshop trick. :) Christmas Minis 2019!
December 1st and December 8th Click/copy/paste links to book! https://instant-scheduling.com/sch.php?kn=2730993&typId=61875&step=2 https://instant-scheduling.com/sch.php?kn=2730993&typId=61900&step=2 It might be just one room....but it's a dream come true. Please, fill my calendar with newborns, sitter sessions, cake smash, milk bath, and holiday-themed minis because working in here makes me happier than I knew it could. But, yes, back to our purpose, I want you to feel comfortable knowing where you are bringing your baby/kids so let's take a little tour. HI BEAUTIFUL STUDIO ROOM! Bright, fun, airy, and cute. It's your baby's day so we welcome him on the letter board and you can relax on the comfy chairs while I get to work! Set-up, backdrops, and my "moveable window" light Let's take a glimpse at newborn baby Sutton's Session and how we use the space! ![]() I also have two closets (not pictured) FULL of baskets, crates, props, fluff, basket fillers, wraps, etc. etc. etc. We used some white fluff and the wood panels for sibling pics. And we can't forget my neutral backdrop roll-down "machine"!! There is so much we can do in a one-room studio. It is some of the most fun I have ever had WORKING! We did these from Baby Girl Jaxyn's 1 year in just an hour....we moved from Christmas, to a neutral Wainscot, to a milk bath all from 11 am to noon. So...come on over! Play with me! We will have a blast.
